chkconfig
What if we don't specify the levels?
Then the default run levels (2, 3, 4, and 5) are changed.
[root@Hamming rc3.d]# chkconfig sshd --list
sshd 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
[root@Hamming rc3.d]# chkconfig sshd off
[root@Hamming rc3.d]# chkconfig sshd --list
sshd 0:off 1:off
2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off
6:off
We can restart at the default run levels as follows:
[root@Hamming rc3.d]# chkconfig sshd on
[root@Hamming rc3.d]# chkconfig sshd --list
sshd 0:off 1:off
2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on
6:off
