At last, I have reached the final area of the problem, how readers read. To answer that, I need to look back over a short history of research into the reading process and into the process of creativity. By seeing what has been done before, a reader of my work will be able to understand some of the aspects that will eventually be used to answer the ultimate question of how reading happens. The next chapter explores this research history.
