NFS - Network File System
Starting the NFS server :
You can use chkconfig to set up NFS on reboot:
[root@Hamming ~]# chkconfig --list nfs
nfs 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
[root@Hamming ~]# chkconfig nfs on
[root@Hamming ~]# chkconfig --list nfs
nfs 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
Make sure portmap is also running:
[root@Hamming ~]# chkconfig --list portmap
portmap 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
Notice that portmap is set to on for run levels 3,4, and 5
You can check the status to see if it is currently running:
[root@Hamming ~]# service portmap status
portmap (pid 2367) is running...
If portmap is not running, then turn it on:
[root@Hamming ~]# service portmap start
Starting portmap: [
OK
]
